Overview

This concept ad reimagines how National Geographic could evolve in the age of AI-powered creativity and immersive media.

Created by Joyal Johnson, MSc Digital Marketing student at the University of the West of Scotland, the film explores how next-generation tools — from AI image generation to immersive web storytelling — can redefine how audiences connect with nature, science, and emotion.


The ad and its accompanying interactive experience combine cinematic storytelling, artificial intelligence, and digital foresight to visualize the future of discovery.



Creative Roadmap

1. Concept & Ideation

• Objective: To conceptualize a speculative National Geographic campaign that merges art, AI, and interactivity.

• Theme: “The world is changing — so should the way we tell its stories.”

• Focus: Reimagining how NatGeo could evolve in the Metaverse and synthetic society.

2. Script & Narrative

• Written with ChatGPT (GPT-5) to create an emotionally driven voice-over that captures both the majesty and vulnerability of nature.

• Structured around curiosity, empathy, and human connection.

3. Visual Design

• Generated using Nano Banana to craft cinematic stills with vivid realism and surreal atmosphere.

• Designed to capture the signature visual tone of National Geographic.

4. Motion & Composition

• Transformed still images into moving visuals using Google Veo 3 and Google Flow, enhancing realism through depth, motion, and continuity.

• The result: a lifelike documentary flow powered entirely by AI synthesis.

5. Editing & Post-Production

• Completed in DaVinci Resolve, where pacing, tone, and color grading were fine-tuned to reflect cinematic storytelling.

• Sound and atmosphere layered for emotional immersion.

6. Immersive Extension

• The ad was expanded into an interactive 360° ThinkLink experience, allowing viewers to explore scenes, layers of storytelling, and embedded context.

7. Integration & Publishing

• Exported in 1080p HD and embedded on joyaljohnson.com as part of the Digital Marketing portfolio, complemented by the ThinkLink experience for full immersion.
